Vamo.com merging with Airbnb

That was the message  greeting visitors, to  vamo  [a play on the spanish word vamos lets go or come on] a Multi-city trip planning online site.

Airbnb is acquiring Vamo, a service that helps in the process of booking trips with stops in multiple cities, and closing the product down.

Airbnb does not use Vamo, but the company’s desire for a team like Vamo CEO Ari Steinberg’s makes logic. Airbnb isn’t only about booking a residence, there’s are many layers of experiences that fit on the the top, for example communication between hosts and guests. Not forgetting thee obvious, for "Team Steinberg", the attraction of a company like Airbnb ,is the opportunity to work in the same sector at a much larger scale and with greater resources.

Dear fellow travellers,

Today I'd like to announce some exciting news: the Vamo team will be joining the amazing team at Airbnb.
We started Vamo three years ago with a vision to simplify trip planning. We grew the team, we moved into our own office, we tested and iterated, we added features, we removed features. We launched a product.

So much has changed since we started, but our vision to make travel better has always been the same. That's why we're so excited to join the team at Airbnb. Complexities around international multi-city travel continue to exist, but we believe that in the long run we’ll be able to make even more significant improvements to the future of travel by joining Airbnb.

As of now, Vamo will not be accepting new registrations. For those of you that are in the middle of trip planning, Vamo will continue to accept reservations through the end of September. Starting October 1, functionality will become limited – you'll be able to view your trips but you won't be able to make any new reservations. Don't worry, all bookings will be honoured, even after September.

To learn more about this announcement and what it means for the future of Vamo, please take a look at the questions & answers here. We've also put together a blog post summarizing all the flight and travel hacks that Vamo was built upon, so you can become an expert in booking your own multi-city trips.

Last but not least, I want to say thank you so much for your support – it's been an incredible journey and we're so grateful that you've joined us for the ride.
Sincerely,

Ari Steinberg
Founder & CEO
