Located on what the singer called the 'fantasy island' of Mustique - a popular getaway spot with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - the property boasts several enormous reception rooms
The $20million (£14million) five-bedroom mansion still retains the same glamour, extravagance and lavishly colourful interiors Bowie envisioned when he chose the home's Indonesian look back in the Eighties
The peaceful hillside hideaway, which was once described by the 69-year-old glam rock icon as a 'tranquil place' that was so relaxing he found it difficult to write new music there, can be hired as a holiday home for $40,000 (£28,000) a week in low season and $70,000 (£50,000) in high - with a minimum seven-night stay.
Each of the estate's five bedrooms are all individually named and have their own private veranda which lead straight out to the pool.the main rooms, the estate also features a card room decorated with mussel shells, a studio with bamboo ceiling - which was once used by Bowie to record in - and a stage for musical performances.
Explaining the theme of his former home - designed by Swedish architect Arne Hasselqvist as a series of pavilions, each sitting discreetly within the tropical garden - Bowie said in 1992: 'I wanted something as unlike the Caribbean as possible.
'It’s a whim personified. I love a good cliché, and this house, for me, is just the most delightful cliché. What you have to realise is that Mustique is a fantasy island.'
Since being purchased by Dolan - who has a son named Bowie - the hill top estate has remained pretty much in its original state, the only changes being a slight upgrade on certain furnishings.
Facing west, the property is perfectly positioned for guests to enjoy the mesmerising Mustique sunsets and white sandy beaches.
In addition to the main property, Mandalay Estate is also home to ‘The Writer’s Cottage’ which provides guests with 'first-class self-contained, open plan accommodation' away from the main villa.

The cottage was used regularly by poet and publisher Felix Dennis who purchased the property from David Bowie in 1995. Dennis wrote many of his most well-known pieces of work including How To Get Rich and A Glass Half Full in the writer’s cottage.
The main villa was built in 1989 on a sandy outcrop, measuring three miles by one-and-a-half miles, that had been bought by British aristocrat Lord Glenconner for £45,000 in 1958.
Other celebrities attracted to Mustique, where there are only around 80 houses and you can pay up to $75,000 a week to rent a place, include Mick Jagger and Jeremy Clarkson.
