An exciting report commissioned by online estate agency easyProperty has shone a spotlight on how house buying may transpire 2020 - and Google and Facebook will play an almost parallel role alongside Rightmove and Zoopla.
The report - produced by ‘future trends’ consultancy The Future Laboratory - suggests there will be what is called a “hyper-personalised service” based on Big Data
Semantic searches, made via the portals currently involve relatively little information, provided by the buyer and covering the maximum price, approximate location, number of bedrooms and perhaps other criteria , data points / APIs.
The report continue by describing, tech companies like Google and Facebook continue to amass , large amounts of data generated by you and me — online sites surfed, products bought, what real-world locations you frequent — ISP providers, can already access, a detailed profile of your buying personality trait.
Large supermarkets, have been doing this for over a decade and many could learn from the recent partnership with Morrison and Amazon.
Royal institute of chartered surveyors have also be quoted, as saying “Real estate companies will become tech companies who happen to work in RE.” at the recent MPIM Real estate conference 2016 conference
