Nation Wide data shows annual house price growth softening in August 2015

Nationwide Building Society  the largest building society in the world ,released August data showing uk house prices lowering.

Commenting on the figures, Robert Gardner, Nationwide's Chief Economist, said:

“UK house prices increased by 0.3% in August, though the annual pace of house price growth edged down to 3.2% from 3.5% in July. The annual rate of price growth was the weakest since June 2013; this partly reflects the high base for comparison, since prices increased at a particularly strong rate in August 2014.

“This month’s data provides further evidence that annual house price growth may be stabilising close to the pace of earnings growth, which has historically been around 4%.

Why have UK house prices been more resilient?

“UK house prices have proved remarkably resilient in recent years, certainly compared with many other developed economies, as the chart below demonstrate

“UK house prices didn’t fall as far during the financial crisis, and even where they declined by a similar…

British house price rises to slow in 2016 - Reuters poll

British house prices will rise more slowly next year than in 2015, according to a Reuters poll of analysts that also found interest rates would have to reach 3 percent before seriously affecting the market.

The bedrock of consumer wealth in Britain, house prices will rise 5 percent this year and 4 percent in the next two years, according to a poll of 22 property market experts taken in the past week, similar to forecasts published three months ago.
Wages will pick up faster than inflation - pegged at 0.2 percent this year, 1.6 percent in 2016 and 2 percent in 2017 - but will not match house prices rises until 2017, another Reuters poll found. [ECILT/GB]

Can a doorbell really work as a way to help prevent crime ?

By@richardbranson

Can a doorbell really work as a way to help prevent crime? Introducing Ring, the smart doorbell that can help improve your home security. The Ring Video Doorbell calls a user's smartphone when activated, enabling homeowners to see and speak with visitors, regardless of where they are. As burglars often ring or knock to ensure a house is empty before breaking in, Ring can deter them by giving the impression the home is occupied. Even if they don’t physically press Ring’s doorbell button, built-in motion sensors detect visitors’ movement and trigger instant mobile alerts and HD video recording.
I am an investor in Ring, and while the product is exciting and its mission to reduce crime in communities is important; what I found so interesting was the story of the young entrepreneur - James Siminoff - behind it. Like many others at the start of their journey, James tried and failed to raise money for his idea – for him it was on the popular US show @Shark Tank. Unbowed, …

Top Chef Tony Singh sells house with the help of tech company Periscope

But now the way would-be owners view homes is on the verge of transforming forever – thanks to the success of live video streaming. We told earlier this month how top chef Tony Singh had become the first person in Scotland to use smartphone app Periscope to advertise his luxurious villa, which is currently on the market for £550,000. The app allows viewers from across the globe to peer through the keyhole of properties, experience a full tour and make comments – without actually being there in person. According to the city’s leading property portal ESPC, viewings of Mr Singh’s five-bedroomed home have tripled since it was streamed on Periscope on August 14. Using the tool to advertise the Duddingston property was the brainchild of Ken McEwan, CEO of McEwan Fraser Legal, which is selling the home. for the full story go click here
